Chatroulette is a website that pairs random strangers from around the world together for webcam-based conversations. Visitors to the website randomly begin an online chat (video, audio and text) with another visitor. At any point, either user may leave the current chat by initiating another random connection. As of July 11 the site is offering an experimental localized version which pairs people by state. Chatroulette is one of the best free chat and online dating service nowadays. And best of all, it's free and doesn't require any registration: chat gratis.
Omegle is used for talking to strangers via online chat. The service randomly pairs up users online into one-on-one chat windows (with option of blocking certain cameras), where they can chat anonymously using the handles "You" and "Stranger". The site was created by 18-year old Leif K-Brooks of Brattleboro, Vermont and was launched on March 25, 2009. The name "Omegle" is an alteration of the word omega. The blue part of the logo contains an omega (Ω) turned diagonally. On March 14, 2010, Omegle introduced a video conferencing feature in addition to text chatting.
Non-English Chatroulette clones abound. Although the styling of each app is ever-so-slightly different, users around the world can try the same basic service in a multitude of languages. We found six non-English clones so far; Chatroulette’s erstwhile unique UX can be found in Korean at Ranchat, Chinese at Vdchat, Italian and German at Jaleco, Spanish at Tipitty and French at Roulettechat. These sites might be particularly interesting to those seeking to improve their foreign language skills, as well. It does seem there’s a gap in the market for a Japanese version, however.
